As main contractor, we take responsibility for the construction itself. We plan the works, coordinate the supply chain, manage the site and hand over a building that does what you need it to do. Construction management

Construction management is an increasingly popular alternative to a single main contract. You contract each trade package directly, and we act as your construction manager for a fee, managing and coordinating the packages and controlling cost and programme on your behalf.
You get full transparency over trade package prices and more control over decisions. In return, you hold more of the risk, because each package contract sits with you rather than with a main contractor. It tends to suit experienced clients who want visibility over trade packages and are willing to carry package risk. We have delivered projects on this basis.

Can you provide quantity surveying or project management on its own?
Yes. You can appoint us for quantity surveying or project management without us acting as main contractor. Our healthcare work at West One in Manchester, the Mireille Gillings Neuroimaging Centre in Exeter and the Kingston Hospital MRI Building was project quantity surveying and commercial management, in association with M&O Building Contractors, who delivered the works. As project manager, we can also oversee consultants and contractors you appoint directly.
What does a quantity surveyor do on a construction project?
A quantity surveyor manages cost from the first sketch to the final account. Our service covers budget development and cost planning, value engineering and option appraisal, procurement and tendering, contract administration, valuations, change control and final accounts. On our healthcare schemes, that also meant subcontractor and client valuations, extensions of time, monthly cost reporting and regular site attendance, so the cost story always matched what was happening on site.
