There’s a kind of industrial job we like. You know what the building has to do. It has to work on day one. And you want someone who’ll tell you the cost before anyone starts guessing.
Flying Spares at Merrylees was that job.
We were the main contractor for the fit-out and the relocation at Unit 28, near Desford. About £2.4m.
They needed an existing unit turned into one place they could work from. Offices on the ground and first floor, storage, a car workshop and technical areas, and a 2,250m² mezzanine. Air compression and specialist equipment. Then the internals: partitions, mechanical and electrical, ductwork, a resin floor, joinery and a kitchen, doors and screens.
We planned it with them so the cost and the programme were clear, then we built it. The works were all completed within a 26-week programme.
Neil Arman, Director at Flying Spares, said:
It was vital to have good people in place that could drive the refurbishment on our behalf. I’m pleased to say that everything was completed on time and within budget. We were kept well informed and Roundtable Projects were always available to answer our questions. The final result has exceeded our expectations. The refurbishment has created a fantastic working environment whilst adding value to the property.
Here is the finished unit.
